Sunny and spacious pre–WWII one-bedroom apartment available during the academic year, located in the Little Caribbean / Flatbush neighborhood. The apartment offers a generously sized bedroom and living room, with cozy kitchen and bathroom spaces. Hardwood floors run throughout the living room and bedroom. The building is older, with an elevator that reflects its vintage character and an active, lived-in stairwell.

The apartment is sparsely but comfortably furnished and includes a private bedroom as well as a sofa bed. It is both pet- and family-friendly. Rent is $2,500 per month and includes all utilities. First and last month’s rent are required to move in, along with a $600 security deposit. There is some room for negotiation.

I have lived in the apartment since December 2009 and have sublet it since 2013. The building community is warm and welcoming, with many long-term residents from the Caribbean. I am an academic who works in Washington, D.C. during the academic year and in New York from June to August. One of the apartment’s most appealing features is its abundant natural light and the magnolia tree just outside the window, which blooms beautifully from late March through May.

The apartment is a short walk to Prospect Park and approximately 35 minutes door-to-door to NYU. It is fully furnished and well connected, with access to the 2/3/4/5, B/Q, and Shuttle trains, as well as the B12, B16, B35, and B44 bus lines.
