This is a LEASE TAKEOVER 16 months: from March 2023 to August 2024. Rent is 3,815 per month.
First off: we really like it here. It’s a great apartment with a huge back yard. Central Park and Museum Mile are six blocks away with Carl Shultz park as close in the opposite direction. The backyard is surprisingly quiet and private because the surrounding yards close it off from any street noise. It's a beautiful place to watch the sky and has plenty of room to host friends.
We (my partner and I) are moving because our cat is sick and needs more space to successfully adapt to changes that happen in daily life. His official diagnosis is prozac and five million cat trees. It’s funny, because it’s ridiculous, but it’s also deadly serious, because it legitimately endangers his life. So, we need to move to a neighborhood that gives us more square footage for the price.
The apartment has the most closet storage I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying in New York City, with two pretty huge closets. There are three cabinets in the kitchen which we supplement with a hutch. The bathroom’s really nice, with a good-sized shower and great behind-the-mirror storage.
One really nice random thing is that there’s an abundance of outlets. The recessed, dimmable lighting is also really nice. AC’s adjustable and great. Management gets back to you quickly about maintenance.
Also – ignoring the proximity to the museums and parks, there’s just a lot to do around here. It’s very easy to go out. The location is close to both Orpheum 7 and 82nd Greenmarket, which makes for great casual go-to weekend plans. Within a four block radius I could list six different really fun bars. There’s plenty of grocery stores and 86th st. has a bunch of useful big stores: PetCo, Staples, Target, so on.
Anyways, we signed a two year lease because we were so excited about the place, which is why the sublease is for so long. We’ll be staying in the city and hope to move sometime Feb-Mar. The official trade off day is negotiable within that time frame.
