Apartment is a full floor with 1 Queen bed (in the rear of the apartment) and a single daybed in the front room of the apartment. Located 3 flights above entry level. Full kitchen with dishwasher and full bathroom. Flat screen TV. Very quiet side street. One block from 61st Street & Lexington train stop and 2 blocks from 60th street train stop. Steps away from Whole Foods, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman. Central Park is two blocks away.

The apartment occupies the complete floor 3 flights above the entry hall level, extending from front to back and thereby providing two special sets of views: the facing row of timeless townhouses and activity of 62nd street to the north, and a cityscape view of skyscrapers, as well as the House's lovely garden below, to the south. The back portion of the apartment, facing south, consists of a larger bedroom furnished with a queen bedroom as well as a smaller room furnished with desk. The front, facing north, constitutes the main living area and is furnished with a sofa and coffee table as well as a single daybed. The breakfast nook off the kitchen includes a table and chair set. The latter, offering that picturesque northern view accompanying morning coffee or dining, has a convincing claim on most delightful eating spot in the building, and it's no shoo­-in contest!

The apartment's airy expansiveness is further enhanced by the approximately 10 foot ceilings and parquet­-style hardwood floors, both of which extend throughout the suite. Two marble fireplaces, sure to draw the eye in and give perspective to the spacious suite, are found: one in the larger back bedroom and one near the front, dividing the sitting area from the queen bed there.

The generously sized apartment-style suites are housed within a 5-story classic 1870's era brownstone on an inviting residential street. The historic turn-of-the-century brownstone townhouse brings style and quaintness to the busy city. Views of beautiful East 62nd Street Mansions or serene garden views. The wonderful stylized apartments of the townhouse offer antique furniture, hardwood floors, beautiful beds, en suite private bathrooms, as well as high ceilings, marble fireplace mantels and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some rooms offer a kitchen or kitchenette and separate dining areas.

Tucked among gorgeous townhouses and other historic buildings between Park and Lexington Avenues, the Brownstone offers charming accommodations a couple of blocks from Central Park, Madison Avenue shopping and Manhattan's finest restaurants and cafes.

Set on a tree-lined street, the beautiful brownstone building is situated in the much sought after LENOX HILL neighborhood of the Historic Upper East Side section of Manhattan and a 5-minute walk to CENTRAL PARK. Bloomingdales (Madison Avenue) are within a couple of blocks away. Yet, the house is only three blocks from bustling Midtown Manhattan and some of the City's fabulous and world renown Museums & galleries including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA and the Frick Museum. Carnegie Hall is 9 minutes away by Taxi or an 18 minute walk. Among subway lines near the house are the 4, 5, 6, F, R & N and the new Q extension just 1 and 2 blocks from the house. Located at the southernmost end of the Upper East Side, the brownstone is nestled among stylish brownstones and stately townhouses on a beautiful tree-lined residential block. Flanked by prestigious Park and Lexington Avenues, the house is set amid Manhattan's most elegant neighborhood on the Upper East Side and is just a stroll away from Central Park and Times Square. The brownstone is at the epicenter of a chic and bustling neighborhood, many of the Upper East Side's finest restaurants are in close proximity, as are Madison Avenue's chic boutiques and stylish cafes. Neighborhood antique shops, galleries, specialty stores and world-renowned museums are within easy walking distance.

We regret we cannot accommodate pets. The building was built in the year 1871 and all apartments are accessible via the main staircase of the house. Not handicap accessible. There is no elevator.

Guests are expected to maintain the premises on a regular ongoing basis during their stay including all appliances, bathroom and kitchen equipment and furniture. Guests must remove trash & recycling as needed and place it in the garbage cans in the front area of the house. The cleaning fee assumes guest has maintained the premises throughout their stay.

We include sheet sets (flat & fitted sheets and pillowcases), down pillows, down duvets (in cool weather months), cotton blankets & quilts, towels. Bedding includes sheet sets, cotton blanket, down blanket and duvet cover, mattress pad, pillows and pillow cases.

We think you should know:
-As 1871 House is a historical building and retains much of its 19th Century structure, it is not suited for all accessibility needs.
-The charming, late 1800s townhouse, is not a modern structure – think creaky floorboards and sloping wood floors.
-There’s no elevator in the building and the apartment is three flights up from the entry hall level, so prepare to haul your luggage
-This suite is not equipped with an intercom or buzzer system
-Pets & Smoking are not permitted
-The kitchen is small and a bit older, but still good enough to prepare your morning coffee and other basics.
-As this is NYC, you shouldn’t expect the streets below to be quiet – there may be construction or traffic noise nearby
-The fireplaces are only decorative
-This is a large full-floor apartment with multiple rooms. Starting rates are based on single occupancy.
-The maximum number of primary guests allowed is two. A 3rd occupant may be considered on a case by case basis. 3-person occupancy must meet the definition of "traditional family" to be approved.
-TV SERVICE: The apartment is equipped with one TV. The TV is equipped with a ROKU device for streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime or your favorite TV app through subscription. The choice of what to watch and what to pay for is up to you. To access fee-based programming, you must be a subscriber and login with your own username and password. Cable TV is not provided.
-Wi-Fi is provided with the monthly utility fee. Please note that the Wi-Fi is intended for basic residential use only such as emails, and not for heavy download of large data files.

-$250 Exit Cleaning
-$200 1x per month regular cleaning includes linen service. If you are staying multiple months, the cleaning fee is a monthly fee. If your stay is for 30 days, we charge only the exit cleaning fee
-Linens/Towels. We charge a one time flat fee of $100 for a supply of linens & towels provided with your suite. Linens include sheets, cotton & down blankets & pillows.
-$285/month: Utilities fee covers heat, hot water, gas, electric and wi-fi. Partial months are pro-rated (supplemental fee)
-$175/month: June, July, August, September & October (a/c is optional in the months of June & October). If you are booking this room for either of these months, please be sure to let us know if you would like to have a/c or not.
-There is a $650 per month fee for an additional occupant (2 occupants max) or $65/night for an occasional overnight visitor. The fee covers additional operating expenses such as wear and tear, utilities, more prep and cleaning, water (showers, toilets, sink us), supplies such as towels and bedding, laundry & internet. Overnight visitors must be pre-approved in advance.
