Property Details

Hi! Looking for someone to transfer my spot on the lease to for a lovely 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment on Roosevelt Island! It is a massive room- it’s over 220+ square feet, and I’ve been treating it like it’s my own studio apartment.

Pictures include my current set-up, the empty room I moved into, the previous tenant’s set-up, and pictures of the shared kitchen and bath.

The room will be available starting Jan. 1st (earlier move-in possible). The rent is $1,128.00/month with electric, heat, and water included- you only have to split Wifi for $12.50/month per person. ***This would be a lease transfer, not a sublet***- you would be taking my spot on the 4 person lease (through the mgt company), and the lease runs through August 31st, 2021, with option to renew at that point. First month rent and a $1,128.00 security deposit due at move-in; and you’ll also need to pay a $20 application fee to apply to join the lease (for the management company’s credit/background check). You’ll need to make about 40x the rent to qualify (about $45k/year), and management isn’t strict on credit scores or histories.

The room has so much space, with a huge south facing window overlooking the East River- the room is drenched in sunlight. Right now, I have a full sized bed, Ikea closet, 2 dressers, 2 bookcases, 2 end tables, a recliner, a mini-fridge, a large desk, and plenty of room to spare to work out and for storage.

The room will be unfurnished except for the Ikea closet and a mini-fridge/freezer combo, but you can buy my basically new full bed frame (bought in August), end tables (bought in July), 8000 BTU window AC (bought in July), or massive office desk (bought in June) for really discounted prices.

The entire apartment has lots of natural light and it’s right on the water, so there’s always a nice breeze! There is a nice, big laundry room in the building, and the building has alternate upstairs/downstairs units, so you’ll be far away from any upstairs and next-door neighbors- I’ve never heard a thing, the unit is so quiet.

About the roommates: you’ll be sharing the apartment with three women in their mid-twenties to early-thirties, and everyone is really friendly, respectful, and likes to keep things tidy and clean. One roommate has a cute little dog, and one roommate has an older cat, but both pets stay in their respective bedrooms at all times unless they are leashed/supervised. We like to keep a clean and organized apartment, and just make sure we clean as we go, and we chit chat in the halls and share the occasional pizza or wine. It’s generally a pretty quiet apartment, perfect for working from home. You will generally just share a bathroom with 2 other roommates (one has a half bath), but will share the shower with all 3 (but there’s never been a time where I needed/wanted to shower but couldn’t). The only other shared living space is the kitchen, the hallways, and the hallway closets, which have lots of storage space available.

Only females or female identifying. No couples. Pet-owners and smokers are welcome (as long as you smoke outside; and as long as your pet gets along with other cats and dogs). Everyone is very conscious about COVID precautions and measures, and maintain social distancing and wear masks outside of the apartment (and again, everyone likes to keep things pretty clean).

Roosevelt Island is a beautiful gem in the heart of NYC! A small island in the East River between the UES and Astoria, we have easy access to both Manhattan and Queens via subway, tram, car, bus, NYC Ferry, and CitiBikes. There is a ton of open, outdoor green space, with a bunch of parks, baseball fields, and soccer fields, along with open grassy fields, walking trails, a lighthouse on the north end, and the beautiful FDR Four Freedoms State Park on the Southern tip. Roosevelt Island is one of the safest neighborhoods in all of NYC, and I’ve always felt comfortable and safe when my dog decides he needs a walk at 3 AM. There are a few local restaurants, a supermarket (FoodTown), a few smaller food markets, a Duane Reade, a Starbucks, the Post Office, and a neighborhood sports facility that has a pool. We have a super affordable parking garage if you have a car (it's about $190/month), and there are a ton of delivery options from both Manhattan (usually UES), Queens (Astoria and LIC), and Brooklyn (Williamsburg).

You will be applying to transfer my lease to you with the management company- you will need to pay $20 application fee for credit/background check (I am willing to reimburse you via Venmo for the fee).
