The neighborhood is very safe and family friendly, and the apartment building itself is made up of mostly students and families. There is a cheap, reliable laundromat right around the corner. Columbia's campus is about a 10 minute walk away, and the 1, B, and C trains are all 4 blocks away (~ 4-5 minute walk).
