And the neighborhood is THE BEST. Right on the corner there's several delis, bakeries, bars, pizza places, and some *fawncy* places like Kiehl's too. A block away is New York's LEGENDARY restaurant row on 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue; I personally recommend Meson Sevilla for outstanding traditional Spanish cuisine and Orso of 'American Psycho' fame (infamy?)

If your out-of-town friends and family are visiting, Broadway theaters and Times Square a five minute walk away: close enough to be convenient, far enough that you aren't living in that brouhaha.

If you don't want to keep a pet yourself, the Clinton Fruit market on the corner has the friendliest, fattest, deli cat who tries to collect morning snuggles from everyone walking by.
